ANTAQ authorizes simplified lease auction at the Port of Maceió

MAC 15 joins four other terminals to be auctioned on December 13th

The National Waterway Transport Agency (ANTAQ) has approved the auction of a terminal in the area of the Organized Port of Maceió (AL). The decision was approved at the Ordinary Board Meeting (ROD) on Thursday (16).

MAC15 will be used for handling and storing solid mineral bulk, especially salt. The bidding process for the area had already been approved ad referendum (when the procedure cannot wait for a board meeting and is analyzed at a later date) in the Federal Official Gazette (DOU) at the end of September.

The terminal will be auctioned off as a simplified lease. In this modality, regulated by Decree 8.033/2013, leases do not require a public hearing and can also be exempt from merit analysis by the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU), due to their small size and low risk.

One of the features of MAC 15 is that it is a brownfield site of almost 42,000 m². The overall value of the contract is R$318 million, with a fixed monthly rent of R$336,000 over a five-year contract.

In her vote, the rapporteur for the case, director Flávia Takafashi, explained the amount to be paid by the future lessee for the operation to take place productively.

“In order for the terminal to remain in good operating condition during the contractual term, it is estimated that the amounts to be spent on new investments will amount to around R$7.2 million,” he said.

Auction in December

MAC 15 joins the other four terminals authorized by ANTAQ for auction on December 13. The leases are for the ports of Rio Grande (RS), Vila do Conde (PA) and Porto Alegre. To find out more about the other areas to be auctioned, click here.
