The stretch of the BR-163 highway managed by the Nova Rota do Oeste (NRO) concessionaire received, on Monday (18), the first 15 km of duplication of the highway, between the municipalities of Diamantino and Nova Mutum, in Mato Grosso. A service order was also signed for the duplication of a further 88 km between Nova Mutum and Lucas do Rio Verde. The director of the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), Luciano Lourenço, represented the Agency at the inauguration of the stretch.

“We are here at a historic moment, where we are opening the first 15 km of the BR-163 dual carriageway in the north of Mato Grosso to traffic. A long-awaited, long-desired moment is being celebrated today,” celebrated the ANTT director.

The cleared segment provides for the expansion of capacity on 86 km of the highway to promote the well-being of all those who live in and pass through the region. “All the work we do within Nova Rota is aimed at serving BR-163 users in the best possible way, and we know how important this duplication is for road safety, further strengthening the state’s economy,” commented NRO CEO Luciano Uchoa.

The delivery is the second major package of works contracted by the concessionaire since the Government of Mato Grosso, through MT Par, took control of NRO. On the new service front, the project foresees an investment of R$670 million between km 593 and km 681 of the BR-163 highway, including the duplication, rehabilitation of the existing roadway, construction of three viaducts, an interchange and a bridge over the River Patos.

The inauguration ceremony for the section that was handed over and the signing of the new service order was attended by local authorities, such as Governor Mauro Mendes, representatives of the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU), the chairman of the NRO Board, Cidinho dos Santos, among others.

ANTT has been monitoring the progress of the concession contract and ensuring that all the planned investments are met.
